The Healing Power of Ayurveda For Intestinal Worms
Intestinal worms are parasites that live in the human body by retaining crucial supplements from the body. These worms most easily impact children. However, it is similar in normal grown-ups. Roundworms, tapeworms, and hookworms affect kids, while string worms, pinworms, and whipworms are the most well-known in adults.
Intestinal worms are pervasive in all regions of the world yet are more normal in tropical and subtropical locales. Intestinal worms develop all the more quickly during monsoon season.
What does Ayurveda say About Intestinal Worms?
According to Ayurveda, Intestinal worms known as Krimi Rog arises from aggravated doshas of the body through unsuitable foods and lifestyles.
The aggravated doshas invade all the channels inside the body, vitiating the skin, lymph, blood, and muscles, making these areas welcome spots for parasites to live. They are also caused by excessive consumption of many sweets, molasses, grains, milk, and yogurt.
Ayurveda regards intestinal worms as a vitiation of the Kapha dosha which keeps up with the harmony between the outside and interior creation of the human body as each digestive worm has a day-to-day existence cycle that moves all through the human body. The disease is inward yet the method of transmission is dependably outer.
Long untreated intestinal worms may lead to many health complications such as:
- Chronic Diarrhea or Constipation
- Dryness of the body
- Anemia
- Indigestion
- Drowsiness
- Ulceration in the anus

An unabated development of intestinal worms can cause severe health issues.

Types of Intestinal Worms Infections
According to Ayurveda, Intestinal Worms are divided into three distinct types based on where the parasite has been affected. Below are the three types explained with their symptom:
Kapha
Parasites reside in the stomach and small intestine. When parasites increase in number, they move throughout the alimentary tract. Their size and shape vary. Seven species of Kapha krimi exist.
Symptoms of Kapha Krimi
They cause excess salivation, nausea, loss of taste and appetite, indigestion, fainting, vomiting, gas, fever, abdominal distention, excess sneezing, emaciation, and nasal mucus.
Blood (Raktaja)
Parasites reside in the blood vessels, are very tiny, without legs, are round, copper-colored, and are of six species. These parasites are related to filaria, malaria, bacilli (leprosy), and viruses in the blood, spleen, and liver. They come from flea, mosquito, and bedbug bites.
Symptoms of Blood Krimi
Symptoms include burning, skin discoloration, itching, raised patches, pricking pain, and symptoms of other skin diseases.
Feces (Purishaja)
Reside in the colon, usually moving downwards. When they increase in number they travel up to the stomach and small intestine. They are thick, round, thin, and threadlike, or thick, blue, yellow, white, or black, and of five species.
Symptoms of Feces Krimi
- They cause the smell of feces in the mouth, belching, and exhalations.
- They cause diarrhea, dysentery, and abdominal pain; they also cause food to remain undigested in the stomach, poor digestion, emaciation, and rectal itching when feces are expelled.
Causes of Intestinal Worms
As per Ayurveda, the root cause of intestinal worm infections is poor food habits and a bad lifestyle.
The adult worms live in the digestive tract. The female worms move to the anus, where they lay their eggs. Later, eggs drop through the stool and stay in the outside climate for a long time.
The human body becomes infected through unhygienic contact, where these eggs get ingested. The eggs go into the human body through water and food and breed in the digestive organs.
Roundworms enter the human body by eating unhygienic food. String worms might enter the human body through dirty hands. Hookworms enter the human body because of bare-footed strolling on the infected soil.
Risk Factors of Intestinal Worms
- Children playing in contaminated soil like school playgrounds, sandboxes, etc.
- In adults, a weak immune system can be the reason that gives worms a favorable environment in the body to survive.
- The risk of intestinal worms increases for people who live in rural areas because of drinking water from contaminated sources like tap water.
