Summer is the season when your daily cup of tea gets replaced with a daily glass of fresh lime water. Your attire starts shifting to the more cottony clothes and includes less of the ones made with synthetic fabrics. Fancy designer shoes get to be in the store-room, while a lot of us start carrying colourful sun umbrellas. But along with all of this, what comes in tow, are skincare issues as well. People with oily skin have a tough problem as the oil and sweat combined makes the skin look and feel even worse. The ones with dry skin start seeing patches on their skin.
Skincare in summer season is thus, essential to escape from the above-mentioned problems. During summer, a lot of factors and things, seem hell-bent on attacking the skin, that include: dirt, grime, sweat, pollution and the sun. Another factor that affects the skin, from the inside, is dehydration/lack of water. It makes the skin look plain and without any life. Also affecting the skin are infections, caused by micro-organisms that are prevalent in the humid, moisture-filled air. But, with the right steps, an individual can keep the skin problems in the summer season, at bay.
Drink lots of water
Staying hydrated is an important step in avoiding skin diseases. A lot of time shouldn’t be wasted, though, on finding out the exact amount of water that should be drunk every day. After consumption amounts differ from person-to-person. It depends on a number of factors such as their daily physical activity, age, weight, etc. Generally, 3 litres of water per day is considered a good benchmark. As the temperature rises, a person can go on increasing his water consumption, respectively. This is because, in hot temperatures, water is constantly lost through perspiration. Therefore, the excess consumption is justified.
Skincare in summer season also includes other tips, apart from staying hydrated.
Exfoliate
Every day, our body sheds skin. All the skin cells come off in the form of dead skin and are continuously shed. However, during summer, oily skin can trap these dead cells. The best option would be to scrub and exfoliate the body. A moisturizer can be applied, after taking a shower, to soothe the skin. It would be a good idea, to wash the face, at least twice a day. Applying coconut skin, after a shower, can help keep it hydrated.
In the summer, people with sensitive skin experience rashes and other irritating skin conditions. The sun’s rays can also make your skin develop a tan.
Bathe well
During the summer, men perspire a lot. Taking a bath, twice a day, would be advisable. However, care should be taken, to use organic soap. A lot of organic soaps are available in the market and have amazing aromas. Be careful while buying an organic soap. One should make a careful check of each and every ingredient, to ensure that the soap is organic. A soap with ingredients such as aloe vera, mint, basil and other similar herbs, would be great.
Skincare in the summer season can also include special herbs.
Neem
Neem leaves are easily available around us. Neem is antiseptic in nature. To avail, the benefit of neem, boil the neem leaves in water, and apply it on the face and other areas of the body, as required. This will keep you away from different types of dangerous microbes in the summer season. Using neem leaves in the water used for bathing will help reduce the tan on the skin. (Another way of reducing the tan, is the application of lemon juice).
In the end, just some minor changes in your regular skincare regimen can get you prepared for the summer season. Avoiding excess of the sun is essential, to prevent signs of premature ageing. A special and separate regimen should be made, for the face, to give the face, the extra care that it needs. This is important if people want to avoid acne and pimples, that are common in the summer season. Simple things like splashing water on the face, two-three times a day, can do wonders. Stay away from using a lot of face wash. Clean water is the way to go.
