What is Endometriosis?

How Does Ayurveda Define Endometriosis?
According to Ayurveda, endometriosis is caused by an imbalance in the vata dosha. In Ayurvedic philosophy, vata controls all bodily movements and is divided into five subtypes: upward, downward, inward, outward, and circular. Apana Vata, a key subtype, plays a crucial role in facilitating elimination processes like urination, bowel movements, ejaculation, childbirth, and menstruation. Disruption or blockage of apana vata can lead to issues such as retrograde menstruation.

Causes of Endometriosis:
The exact causes of endometriosis remain uncertain in Western medicine.
